BESS opens the door to collaborative economic models between:

  • The site owner (industry, local authority, local producer),
  • The EMS operator/trader (eg: ECOSPHERE EMS),
  • And sometimes the network operator (Elia, local DSO).

These models can operate on a revenue-sharing basis:

  • The site provides its infrastructure and benefits from lower electricity bills.
  • The EMS operator promotes BESS on the markets (flexibility, arbitrage).
  • Returns are distributed based on a clear contractual basis.
